Win K Charles, Vice President of the Board

Time Committed – 20 hours/month

Responsibilities:

The Vice-President shall perform the functions of the President in the event of the absence, resignation, disability, or death of the President. The Vice-President will perform other duties as the Board of Directors may prescribe.

First Participant in Challenge Aspen – 1998

Volunteer Experience:

Outreach club 2002 to 2006 at Aspen High School
Epycs 2004 to 2006 at Aspen High School

Personal:

Ms. Charles has had cerebral palsy since birth and overcome many obstacles in her path as a self-advocate. Her favorite quote is – “I’m a disabled woman, living a non disabled life“.

Creating access to resources by connecting opportunities for people of all disabilities, their families and communities, from Aspen to Parachute.

Who we are:

A community of parents, self advocates, community organizers, service providers, business owners, educators, professionals, and government organizations joined together to create awareness and opportunity.

Our vision:

Create relationships that will assist our community of people with and without disabilities to become productive and supportive citizens. Help our community recognize the gifts every person brings to our Valley. Create a model of coordination/cooperation between all citizens and organizations in our community which can serve as a model for other communities in Colorado and throughout the country.

The Main issues we’re trying to address:

Awareness and attitudes Career and recreational opportunities Housing and transportation, waiting list (for services) Respite, families in isolation that need support
